Swim
Comments: The entire swim I made sure that I kept my hips up and concentrated on my stroke. I did go off course a bit on the way back which hurt my time, but overall I was pleased. I do know that I have to get faster, but for right now just concentrating on my form is fine by me. Transition 1
Comments: Looking at my transition time, I don't know what the hell I was doing. I do know that when I got out of the water, my heart rate was very high and I walked to get it back down. What would you do differently?: Try not to hang out in transition. The time makes it look like I was throwing a party or something. Bike
Comments: I enjoyed this course and I was kind of pleased with my ride. I was having a hard time shifting gears in the beginning and eventually I just stayed on the large chain ring for the rest of the ride. I really need to start working on my cadence and mainting a pace. I always have a hard time on the straight aways and falling apart, especially after I finish doing a hill. What would you do differently?: Keep riding lots. My only recommendation for the bike course is to make sure that the run and bike course aren't on the same road. When I was coming in to finish up, I was worried that I was going to take out some runners. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't have too many issues. Much better than T1. Run
Comments: I had a horrible run and I felt like I was going on a death march at one point. My feet were killing which is my own fault for running in worn out shoes. I wasn't a huge fan of the run course, but overall, it wasn't too bad. What would you do differently?: Make sure that I have new shoes. Post race
Event comments: This was the first year that I ever ran Tugaloo. It was a great race and even though it was very hilly, I would do it again. The volunteers were great. My times were not real good, but I finished and hopefully next year I will have a great race. Last updated: 2007-08-30 12:00 AM

I drove up to the race in the morning. I set my alarm for 3am, but I overslept and woke up at 4:45am. I kind of panicked since I had nothing packed and nothing ready to go. I scrambled and got all my gear and headed out to the door to head up to Lavonia. I had about a half hour to get everything set up when I did arrive. Of course, I got stuck next to the guy that has to bring a huge beach towel, chair, bucket and God know's what else for his transition area. He took up both sides of the rack. What's worse, is that he's the same guy that was at West Point that was next to me. Just my luck.
No real warm up. Just hopped in the water to get some swimming in.
