Pre-race routine:

Long drive from home to the race, left about 4am. Got to the venue, set up transition, had about 35 minutes to watch the other groups start before mine.

Was a decent effort here, but I always lose ground running through the water to first transition and then feel winded for a few miles on the bike trying to catch up.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on bilateral breathing.

I am always slow in transition, seem to take my time getting out of the wetsuit and the shoes on.

Felt good on this leg, was able to get into a groove and push it (maybe a bit too much since I was struggling on the run). My bike leg is improving the most of the 3 events.

Time also includes T1 and T2
What would you do differently?:

Did not drink enough on this leg. I concentrated on getting into a good pace and holding that, did not want to interrupt my pace by reaching out of position to grab a bottle, not the best decision.

Faster here then on T1. I feel a bit disoriented on T1 but much more comfortable here.

Always at the tail end of the age group times on the run. I felt as if my claves were going to pull so I took it easy at first. My pace was decent for me but slow compared to most. It is kind of discouraging to get passed by so many here and finish at the tail end of the times but oh well. I plan to focus on run and bike speed over the offseason.
What would you do differently?:

Push it harder.

Easy walk, drink and eat a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Again, always worried about the run.

Event comments:

I liked the course but not as organized as the other races in this series. Transition was very confusing and not well marked. Doubt I will do this race again, mainly due to the distance.

Course: Beach start, through the surf to a buoy about 100 yards offshore. Surf was not heavy but there was quite a bit of chop heading out. Right turn towards the second buoy, not as much chop but I did get some rollers hitting me and interrupting my breathing a bit. The final leg to the shore was fun since I was able to body surf a bit.
