had a bowl of oatmeal, banana and orange juice. cliff bar prior to race.

Comments:

should have started on the outside of the pack to get a better position. got kicked in the face a couple of times and goggles knocked off. this just made me more determined to get in front of the slower swimmers doing the breaststroke.
What would you do differently?:

start on the outside of the pack that way I won't have to fight the crowded middle of the pack.

BIG HILL at the 4 mile. saw lots of riders walking up. I focused on the top of the hill where it started to level off. Then hit it hard on the down hill. check my max speed at the end of the race and topped out at 40mph. kind of scary as there was one rider down on one of the turns who looked blooded up.

I felt a little slow at the start. legs did't get loose until about the one mile. At the turn around I felt a surge of energy and hit it hard the last two miles. passing quite a few in my wave (3) even a few in 1st and 2nd waves.

Warm down:

walked around, streached, and ate the delicious roasted pig.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

T1 time needs to improve. start on the outside of the pack on the swim. I don't know why I want to jump into the middle all the time. maybe could have impoved overall time 30sec. to 1 min. Also need to warm up more prior to the race and get the heart rate up.

Will definatly be doing this race again. This was a fun race.
