Run
What would you do differently?: Have a gel at 1:00/1:10 mark to get a boost for last 3k. Post race
Warm down: Met up with hubby at finish line. He was also off his PB by about 1min, so it's probably just a slower course than the one 4yrs ago where we both set PB. Had our pic taken. Stretched a little. Walked over to Marche to have Rosti, omelette, cappucino. Massage in pm. Then 2hr meeting with kitchen consultant to discuss our reno. Epsom salt bath in evening. Event comments: My first half-marathon on this course. Great event - -Race kit in recyclable bag -Bib is personalized with first name -Colour coded bibs for sub 2hr half-marathoners and sub 4hr marathoners and separate corral for these runners -4hr live race coverage on CBC -11,000+ runners -Perfect weather -Nice mostly flat course -Lots of people, volunteers, aid-stations, en route entertainment I'm 12th percentile in my AG. Was a minute ahead of PB pace halfway, but lost 2min last 5k, so ended up a minute off my PB 4yrs ago on a much faster downhill course. Overall, quite pleased and proud of my performance. Nice way to end the season. PS - Found out next day that the perfect weather resulted in a record breaking day. Kenyan male (who else?) won marathon, time was fastest on Cdn soil (2:09), breaking 1976 record. Ethiopian woman also broke course record (2:33), was on 2:25 pace, then died last 10K and lost 5min. So it happens to even the pros. The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is quickly becoming a world class race with world class times!! Last updated: 2007-09-04 12:00 AM
