Pre-race routine:

2 Eggo Waffles and a sip or two of OJ about 2hrs before race time. Did not feel like doing the Boost drink this morning with just 2hrs before race time. Stretching & massage before leaving for the race.
Event warmup:

Four or five short intervals around the starting line to warm-up.

Comments:

Tried a few techniques of Chi Running today during the run. The past few days I had been reading a book on the subject. I think the techniques of Chi Running is worth pursuing further. Its all about running form...
What would you do differently?:

Need to remember to look at my HRM during the race more and gauge how I am progressing on the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a Hammer Nutrition Recoverite immediately after race. Then drank nearly a full bottle of Powerade too.

Event comments:

My first ever race at a 5 mile distance, so I guess its a PR day for me.
Overall, a very good race. During the awards ceremony, LOTS of very good door prizes were given away. It could possibly be worth while just to do the race for a chance to win a door prize. Excellent post race food; I think it was all donated by various Mentor stores. Pizza, bagels, bananas, cookies, sports drinks etc.

Course: Combination of streets, bike paths and trails in Mentor's Veterans Park. A bit rolling at times with a couple short climbs. Nice course, good variety.
