Run
Comments: I was still feeling sick (stuffy nose, stiff muscless, sort of weak feeling), but hoped that running would make me feel better. First three miles felt sort of crappy, split was 28:50. By the end of the 10k I was feeling decent, but was starting to notice the heat, split was 58:40. Miles 8-10 were the little hilly, and here I kept going on the uphills making a conscious effort not to walk up the hills. This let me catch up to a number of people, and then pass them for good. When I started mile eleven I realized that I lost time and I needed to really pick it up to beet my goal of 2hr 10min. I ran the last 2 miles pretty hard, catching 4 people spread out before. But I did not make it, time was 2hrs 13min What would you do differently?: I should be happy with the result since 1) I ran while sick 2) it was pretty hot today considering the past 3 weeks temperatures were low 60s-70s, and today POW! 80's. Post race
Warm down: drank water, walked around, leaned on things What limited your ability to perform faster: being sick, unexpected heat Event comments: crappy start organization, crappy post race activities, they actually ran out of water for the half-marathon finishers. People were still coming in for 1.5 hrs after I came in, and there was no water set up for them to drink, they got only one 16oz bottle per person and thats it. Last updated: 2007-09-07 12:00 AM
