Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:45, ate a Clif bar and drank water. I was a bit more nervous than usual as my first 1/2 marathon.
Event warmup:

Jogged about 1/2 mile, then did a good round of stretching. However, it was pretty cold so I didn't feel too warm by start time.

Comments:

Felt great -- never felt like I was hurting, and I had gas in the tank left to run negatives in the last two miles.
What would you do differently?:

More mileage and speed work might bring down my overall time. HOwever, this was a tremendous day and a tremendous feeling for my first half.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched out, drank water and Powerade, and ate a tasty bison burger (nice touch!).

Event comments:

This was a great race -- not only due to my performance, which overachieved my own expectations -- but well-run, lots of volunteers, and a good post-race spread of food and drink. I'll definitely plan to run it again.

Started out too quick, putting up 8:18, and laughing with Mark that we'd never keep up. Then, ran the next 3 in 8:30 - 8:45 per, and then seven straight 9:00-9:05 per. Unprecedented consistency and much faster (by 30 secs per mile) than we anticipated. Finished strong, with an 8:15 and 8:00 last two. Considering I assumed a 2:15 finish, this time blew me away.
Course: Flat, with some deceptive uphills and one long hill on the way back in mile 12 or 13. I powered up that one -- must have passed 50 people or so...
