Pre-race routine:

Got up, caught a bus, bag check, race start.
Event warmup:

Stretched a little, jogged about 1/4 mile to my start corral.

Comments:

I went out way too slow on the front half. I had negative splits of 53:49 for my first 10K, which means I did 6.9 miles in 53:11. I really took it easy on the front because I didn't want to fry by mile 8. Took it too easy and paid for it by not breaking 1:44:00.
What would you do differently?:

Do the first 10K in 48:00 instead of 53:49. Stupid to start out THAT slow. I need better pacing and to stay with the pace group more and chat less.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about a mile and got some Gatorade, water, a banana and a muffin.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing -- just too slow out of the gate.

Event comments:

Great race. Lots of water stations (9 I think) and volunteers. Had a great time. Public transportation after the race was a nightmare with about 1,000 people standing, stranded, at various bus stops because the busses north never came. No taxis in the neighborhood either.
