Swim
Comments: Learned a lot since it was my first one. Went well but got stuck behind people and had difficulty getting around. Goggles also fogged up and so I had a little trouble seeing where I was going. Swimming is my best segment and I should have trusted my swimming abilities and not started at the back of the pack and had to get around people. What would you do differently?: Start at the front of the group and use my stength at the swim to get out in front a little. Transition 1
Comments: This transition was the first I've ever done in competition so it was mostly about learning. Need a little more practice so its routine and I don't have to think about each step. Still learning how to get into my clips faster, still have a fear of falling while getting on. What would you do differently?: Practice this one more. Bike
Comments: Stupid Flat Tire!! It was going really really well until about mile 12, flat tire. Called my SAG crew (AKA my family) who took a while to find me because I was further along the course than they expeced I would be. I guess that was a good sign. Tried to find the hole in the tube to patch but couldn't find it so pumpped up the tire and went on. Ended up stopping two more times to re-pump it. Only after the race did we determine that what punctured the tire was blocking the hole until we pumped it to full pressure, then it opened up. Other than that my speed was really good and I was feeling great. Really ready to buy a rode bike, it will be a little easier than my hybrid. What would you do differently?: not get a flat. Not really under my control though. Transition 2
Comments: Transition went well because I was so happy to be off the bike and know that I could not get a flat tire on the run. Run
Comments: Only walked the hill. Really happy with my time since the run is by far my weakest segment. What would you do differently?: just keep training for the run Post race
Warm down: Walked around drank water What limited your ability to perform faster: Flat tire. That sums up the whole day. Event comments: As this was my first race I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really had a great time doing it and now I'm addicted and ready to start planning for the next one. Sprint Distance here I come. Last updated: 2007-09-10 12:00 AM
