Comments: Swim was cancelled due to oil spill in San Francisco Bay. Since the swim was cancelled, they made us run from the swim exit to the transition area without shoes or socks. It was a good 75 to 100 yard run. It hurt my feet - I am just a puss! ![]() Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Learn how to hop on the bike with my shoes attached to the bike. ![]() Bike
Comments: I felt good on the bike; heart rate was within range; performed well on the hill. There were certain parts of the course where the head wind made it really tough. I was fairly aggressive on the turns trying to pedal through and lean into them...I didn't get squirly on any of the curves - lucky! I had to admire some of the folks who ended up falling, but then got up and finished the race all bloody. That's hardcore! What would you do differently?: Get me a P3 Carbon or Kween Kuota, Zipp 808s, and an improved motor! I need to hit the weights and hills this winter. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: My legs felt Ok getting off the bike as I ran into T2. I compared this with PacGrove where I could barely move after getting off the bike. I didn't even have to sit down to put my shoes on this time. What would you do differently?: learn to run without socks; lace locks ![]() Run
Comments: My run started ok as I got my legs under me. About 3 miles into it, my quads started cramping again ... not sure what the hell is going on ...I pushed hard on the bike, but did not sweat excessively due to the cool weather. My bike seat may been too low ... right now I am guessing it is a combination between nutrition and bike set up. My endurance was fine, but my muscles were not cooperating. What would you do differently?: Figure out what is causing my legs to crap out during the run. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked all my gear about a mile to car then stretched. Grabbed a hot dog with Geoff then watched the speed freaks compete. What limited your ability to perform faster: legs crapped out; may have gotten a little water logged. Event comments: Another great event by Tri California. Last updated: 2007-09-10 12:00 AM

Hit the road at 4:45 to Treasure Island. Ate breakfast in the car at 5:15 am: oatmeal; tea; banana; 3/4 bagel, 2 teaspoons of peanut butter
10 minute jog with Geoff Wieczynski, then stretched. We did not warm up on the bike, but in hindsight it would have been the right thing to do.
