Comments:

i was supposed to help pace tim to a pr, but after getting sick with a fever from wednesday through friday and still having a cough, i wasn't sure what would happen. i decided to try and run.

i started with tim and we were a little behind our goal pace, but pretty much on track. after 4-5 miles i could tell i was working much harder than i should be. my legs felt awesome, but my lungs were tight and i was pushing too hard. i made it to mile 8 and realized i wasn't going to make it the whole way and i was probably costing us 5-10seconds/mile already, so i should just ease up. i wished tim luck and cut way back. it was like a scene from vertigo with all the people we just worked hard to get ahead of slowly passing me.

i started walking any hills at mile 10 and was debating quitting when i got to the half-way point. i didn't see any of my family/friends when i got there though, so i decided i wasn't getting much worse and i could make it.

the next 10 miles were rough and a mix of run and walk. walking didn't feel any better than running, but i couldn't run more than a mile without stopping. finally i started to get back near town and knew i would make it. it got pretty windy and i started jumping onto people who were running and basically drafting off them. i used one guy and a few women to pull me all the way back to the finish line and even pulled out sub-9:00 pace for 25+.

overall it hurt a lot and i'm glad i'm done, but i'm happy that i was able to run it.

What would you do differently?:

not get sick.
