Swim
Comments: The beginning was awful, took on a lot of water and wanted to quit. Didn't position myself well and was too far front and center so there were a lot of bodies. After the second bouy I calmed down and got into a groove. Then there was this woman I just couldn't shake. She was either on top of me or cutting me off for the rest of the swim. I even stopped to tread water a time or two to try and give myself distance but whether I went inside or out she was still there. Finally in the last few hundred yards I kicked her unintentionally and she moved off. Got passed by lots of women from the wave behind me. Better time than I expected based on the practice swim and this being my first tri with OWS. What would you do differently?: More open water swims, start further back but on the inside. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: The ride was fantastic. The bike course is tough but I felt stronger and faster than I ever have in the past. Got up all the hills in the saddle. Some pain in my low back but nothing I couldn't stretch through. What would you do differently?: Better hydrate. Only had half a water bottle on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Had a hard time getting my bike racked, space was tight and my seat is slightly higher than the rack. Had to go to the bathroom on my way out to the run. What would you do differently?: Rack with the handlebars rather than seat. Run
Comments: I just didn't have much left on the run today. After having foot problems for the last week whenever it started to hurt I walked for a bit so I'd have something left to finish. Probably didn't fuel enough either. What would you do differently?: Run the course more, I had only had 1 run on the hill portion, bad idea. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, more hugs What limited your ability to perform faster: Sore foot, not enough fuel Event comments: I had done one small tri earlier this year and this was my "big" race. It was truly amazing. Lots of participants, tons of spectators including lots of kids rooting on their Moms. Everyone is positive and encouraging. Last updated: 2007-09-13 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:15, ready, ate a bagel and headed out. Have to love a race that is 5 minutes from the house!
Walked around, hugged a lot of people, stretched.
