Run
Comments: Ran with a woman from Madison and I think it helpd both of us. I was really stoked when I looked at my watch! I developed a cramp in my right arch about 1.2 miles in. I knew that I could stretch it on the bike and I did, so no big deal. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Great result for me. Transition 1
Comments: Changed into bike shoes, though many used cages and their running shoes. I felt like I needed the shoes and Speedplays today. What would you do differently?: Could have laid out my gloves to save a few seconds but it would really matter in my placing too much. Bike
Comments: I haven't been on my bike for about 30 days so I wasn't expecting much. I also had my first ever race mishap...losing a water bottle at about mile 3. That left me with one bottle of Powerade for 18 miles. I had to ration the stuff too much. I usually drink two bottles in 20 miles. Otherwise not a bad ride for me. I pounded pretty hard because I was feeling pretty good. What would you do differently?: Train more...Duh! Transition 2
Comments: I could be a little faster here but needed to get my sea legs back after the ride. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Wow, were the legs goofy for hte first 1/2 mile! Not enough brick training. Again found someone to run with at an acceptable pace so I was happy. What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little bit, drank a lot of water. Walked to transition and got my bike, stopped to talk to a few friends and headed out. Saw jmwebs and talked to hime for 15 minutes or so. Great to see a Donkey today! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. I have had a crazy August and mostly have been running only. The lack of bike training definitely hindered my perfomance. Event comments: I liked this race a lot. I set a goal of 2:00 since I have never been here before. I beat that so I was happy. It was a bit chilly today but overall it was nice. Last updated: 2007-09-15 12:00 AM

Loaded the bike on the car, grabbed a bagel and Powerade and drove 15 minutes to the race.
Ran about three blocks to get loose. Stood in line for the port-a-potty.
