Pre-race routine:

Ate a normal breakfast as I wasn't starting until 9:48
Event warmup:

Did more stretching this race than hurley, jogged a mile or so. Couldn't warm up in the pool as race had already started.

Comments:

Decent pool swim, person scheduled to start in front of me didn't show so I had a gap, swam faster than the person behind me. Didn't really like having to be there at 7:30 and not starting until 9:48. Based on looking at others some athletes either greatly exaggerated their swim time or were having a bad day. There were people stopping on each lap an hour before I started.

Over the past 2 months swim time for this distance improved 45 seconds and that showed on race day. Training does pay off.

Comments:

Legs were weak until I could get the blood flow back in there. Gonna take a bucket next race to sit on. Everything else was decent. Took too much time getting into shoes on bike.

bike was ok, took too much time getting into rhythm. Didn't get passed on the bike so that was a plus.

Train more longer distance rides.
