Run
Comments: Eighth year in a row doing this race. The most remarkable thing about this year was the rain showers through the third mile. My shoes felt like they weighed ten pounds each! I went out at good clip - 22even the first 3 - and just tried to hang on. Pace seemed steady enough and I really made a point of using the downhills to best advantage. The last two miles didn't seem to hurt as much as usual and I kind of regret not turning it on a little more. Time was a HalfMary PR by 25 or so seconds. As I was passing Shepherd Spinal Center, a guy in a wheelchair was rolling towards the sidewalk to watch. He was pretty fit looking and was wearing an ING Atlanta Marathon shirt. He was in a neck brace. As I went past, I gave him a fist in the air salute - Who knows what his story might be but I had a moment of feeling that 'There but for the Grace. . '. I don't know if he saw me or not. What would you do differently?: I really just haven't had any run focus so my time was kind of a surprise. I would really like to run more but foot/ankle issues are a bit of a limiter at this point. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My bare mimimum of run volume since ING Mary this past March..Vive le Bicycle! Event comments: Bless those volunteers, every one. Coming out in the rain to facilitate a race on a family intensive holiday like that..Thanks! Race starts on time and has all the ammenities anyone could need to do their best. Could you ask for more? c Last updated: 2007-09-21 12:00 AM
