Swim
Comments: Advantage of Full Wetsuit What would you do differently?: Dont breath in while spotting markers (cough) Better Navigation High heartrate after swim Dont forget bodyglide on neck Maybe wear race number/Belt under wetsuit? Transition 1
Comments: Caught finger in timerchip strap (ouch) What would you do differently?: Dont forget to take out earplugs Dont put on cafe pads on shoes, just run. Run faster to transition. Bike
Comments: Steady pace. Bike worked like a charm. Smooth and easy. What would you do differently?: Practice hills, lost ground a few times Work on Gearing on hills. Was all over the cassette. Have a spare ready next time. Transition 2
Comments: Shoes went on easy What would you do differently?: Need a single pull for both straps. Powder for shoes next time. Run
Comments: So slow after the bike it hurt. Couldn't pick up the pace to save my life. HR was high, so was right effort, just slow as heck. Lost the race here. Passed so many times, felt like a speed bump. Good news. Consistent pace throughout. Steady as an ocean liner, and felt like one too :/ What would you do differently?: Hill training. Run technique. Pace training. Would have easily been 5-10 places higher if my pace was in the 8:00 area like in practice. Post race
Warm down: N/A What limited your ability to perform faster: High heartrate after bike maybe? Legs wouldnt move fast enough... Event comments: Overall a great event. Well organized. Deep water start was interesting. Was hard to sight the buoys at times because of the bridges. Be advised construction on the bike course made the turn onto Scottsdale road very constricted and *very* tricky to negotiate at higher speeds. Glad I did the prerace course run the weekend before and knew about it. Would have been a nasty suprise. Run is 'hillier' than I expected, very little flat ground. Needed to train running there more.
