Swim
Comments: My swim leg was improved from last year, but was still very weak compared to my other legs. What would you do differently?: Nothing. My slow performance is only due to my swimming ability. Transition 1
Comments: My mount was not as clean as it usually is, which is probably due to my inability to practice it this week due to school work. What would you do differently?: Practice transition earlier in the week. Bike
Comments: I was worried about being too cold on the bike, but ended up being rather comfortable, besides my feet, which went completely numb. I rode well. My chain ran off my small chainring as I shifted down at the bottom of a climb, which cost a few seconds. What would you do differently?: Train harder. Transition 2
Comments: I didn't realize how numb my feet were until I hit the ground as I dismounted. I nearly wiped out, but managed to save it. When I racked my bike I realized that I had lost my left shoe in the mess at the dismount. What would you do differently?: Practice transition earlier in the week. Run
Comments: I did not run nearly as well as I should have. I did not expect the hills to be as tough as they were, but that's no excuse for going so slow. What would you do differently?: Train harder. I need more speed work. Post race
Warm down: Jogged a little, stretched, and layed on a grassy hill watching others finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: My poor training over the past few weeks and my inability to push hard on the run. Event comments: The best race I've ever been to. This race was in a completely different league than any other race I've done before. It's a shame I wasn't very well prepared for it. Last updated: 2007-09-22 12:00 AM

I woke up at 2:50 am, showered, ate a NutriGrain bar and began drinking Accelerade. The car was packed by 3:45 am, and Dad, Shane, and I were on the road. We made it to the venue very quickly. I got body marked and set up transition at 5:00 am. I waited around until 6:00 am when I began to warm up.
At 6:00 am I ran for 10 minutes, stopping for one last visit to the bathroom. There was no time to get into the water to warm up before the race began, but they did get the wave into the water quickly enough to put in a little swimming just before the race began.
