Swim
Comments: I had a good swim considering my lack of water time in the 2-3 weeks before the race and that hurt my confidence. I felt good breathing, but my lack of confidence in my swim endurance I was cautious not to push myself and would say that I held myself back too much. What would you do differently?: I needed to get in the pool more the 2-3 weeks before the race. Knowing how I felt at the end, I would have pushed in more early. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition for me. I was the first bike on the end. When the race was over, I noticed I never picked my wetsuit up. It was in the middle of the TA...DOOH! I guess I should have put it on the rack. No biggie. What would you do differently?: I would have run harder through the transition area. Bike
Comments: Too much GU on the bike - more discussion on that when we talk about the run. I went to hard on the first loop hills. About 20 miles into the bike, my right troublesome knee really went to work on me. It went from uncomfortable to bad by mile 30. I pushed too hard through the wind. The open fields really gave the wind a free shot at me. What would you do differently?: It is time to go to a doctor and figure out the knee. I would have backed off the pace and not used 5 GU's. What was I thinking? I also downed about 15 oz of Gatorade Endurance and 10 oz. of water in the last 5 miles...too much Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. I accidently grabbed my Body Glide and started running with it. I tossed it to the side (Darn, that was a knew can too) What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I 'screwed the pooch' on my bike. I came into the run with a throbbing knee, and a belly with way too much GU and liquid. My stomach immediatedly started to tightened up. The worst part was I had the bad mistake of interpretting it as under-hydration/nutrtion. I can't believe I actually thought this. Thus I hit a gel and water at the first station. Made things worse. My knee continued to give me problems. I was really dissapointed with my run. This was one of the worst runs I have ever had. I am so much better than I performed but I made some critical dumb mistakes on the bike that never gave me a chance on the run. What would you do differently?: Don't be stupid with GU and liquid. Post race
Warm down: Sat in a chair and played with my kids. Horrible races are made incredible great when your 2.5 year old girl is holding a big sign with scribbling on it. My one year old girl was walking around and having a blast. Clearly, this was the best part of my race so I must mention it. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad decision making, bad knee, lack of water training the 2-3 weeks before the race Event comments: I would have given this race a better rating, but considering it was already a 9:00 start, the late start was bad. Starting races at almost 9:30 is not my type of race. Besides that, they did a nice job. The volunteers were good, well marked course, and nice shirt. Last updated: 2007-09-24 12:00 AM

Woke up about 5:30, had a Clif Bar, coffee and went to the course. Racked my bike, got my chip, and then had a banana.
I rode for about 10 minutes and ran for about 10 minutes. I got my gear ready and waited for a long time. This race wasn't scheduled to start until 9:00, but truly didn't start until about 9:15 / 9:20. I am such an early bird and one to get to the site early -that being said, I was there too long...just sitting and waiting.
