Swim
Comments: With 30 seconds to go, my goggle strap broke, tried to fix, thought I had it and dove in and slipped out, wasted over a minute trying to tie it. Never really got to comfortable pace, but cought and passed many from my wave. Not a good start. What would you do differently?: Buy new goggles, calm down and breath better. Transition 1
Comments: Time includes 1/4 mile run on sand then pavement. Overall went as I practiced. What would you do differently?: Get tri-shoes. Bike
Comments: Passed quite a few people. Climbs did not seem like a struggle. Could have pushed harder. Slow average speed - should have been around 17.5. Fell coming into transition, then had to get up and walk. Probably lost a minute from bike and 30 sec. for transition. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder. Practice dismount more. Transition 2
Comments: Cleaned off bloody leg and drank some gatorade. What would you do differently?: Not fall. Run
Comments: 1st mile very tough, knee and wrist hurt from fall. Picked it up a little in 2nd & 3rd Mile. I am normally a slow runner at 35-37 minutes for a 5K (have done 14 of them this year) Plenty of water and Accelorade stops along the way. Felt like I could have kept running actually. What would you do differently?: Do more bricks and sprints to pick up speed. Post race
Warm down: Bacon, Sausage, home fries, pancakes, etc....then off to the Bucs/Rams game. What limited your ability to perform faster: Speed training in all 3 sports. Can do the distance, now need to work on pace. Event comments: Very organized with an experienced race director and staff. I actually volunteered for a few pre-raceday spots. Very enjoyable experience and am now hooked. Last updated: 2007-09-24 12:00 AM
