Swim
Comments: Well this was my first triathlon. So I was simply trying to get through the swim. I stopped at two kayaks for a quick breather. Not too long I did feel like a speed bump during the final leg as the ladies caught up to me. Volunteers assisted the swimmers get out of the water. Nice! What would you do differently?: I believe some more training in OWS will help in the future. I hear that a wetsuit really helps. Transition 1
Comments: I thought I would have my shoes clipped to the pedals to start. It worked really well when I practiced at my house. Not so well when I was tired after the swim. What would you do differently?: put on shoes in transition. Put on gloves while riding Bike
Comments: I felt pretty good out there considering that I have not ridden outside at all. I took a few spin classes to practice. I like everyone else found the gap on the Scottsdale bridge. The first time by I tried to hop it and the back tire hit pretty hard. I was praying that the back tire would not pop. The second time I lifted myself off of the seat to reduct the pressure. I had trouble shifting gears. Although there were not any real hills to speak of, I was slowed down quite a bit due to my lack of riding experience. What would you do differently?: I just need to ride more. Transition 2
Comments: I felt pretty good here. I have not practiced the transitions that much. I was slowed down by trying to reset my Garmin from biking ot running. I gave up. I chose not to run with the Ipod. What would you do differently?: Use my Polar watch..think about using speedlaces although, I do not feel that my laces slowed me too much Run
Comments: I felt pretty good. I was able to run the entire distance and even pass a few on the course..I was able to sprint to the finish What would you do differently?: I would love to be able to run faster!!! I am working on that. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water. walked around a little bit. Ate the nice breakfast from Monti's. I got the post race stretch. It was good but the guy tried to sell me to come visit him. What limited your ability to perform faster: I tried to pace myself. I could have pushed harder on the bike and run Event comments: I will do this race again. I thought RedRock Co was well organized. I would have liked to see more support in the water by kayakers. I was fine but I thought they were not enough for the number of beginning swimmers. Last updated: 2007-09-24 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0400. ate yogurt, drank a cup of coffee and water. Got the family together to leave at 0500. Naturally, I was 0510 by the time I got everyone in the Explorer.
I work in downtown Tempe, so navigating the area is a piece of cake for me.
Used restroom a few times. You know this is important
Took my time to lay out the transition area.
Met a few friends for a chat, took some pre-race photos
Hopped in the water about 5 minutes before the start
