Run
Comments: Felt good throughout the race although I was concerned at the beginning about how running 4 miles would affect my race. Mile 9 I felt really good, my breathing was calm and my legs felt fine so I kicked it up a notch and turned a 7:30/mile pace for mile 9. Had a strong kick up the final hill to the finish line. What would you do differently?: I probably could have gone faster if I had not run the 4 miles before the race. Although it is hard to say what affect the extra miles actually had. Post race
Event comments: I had a great race, I was about 4 minutes shy of my PR. Although my PR was at the Cowtown Half Marathon last year and it is a flat course. Four Bridges has quite a few hills so in the end I might have been running the same pace or faster if the course was flat. I changed my drinking pattern to a sip of cytomax every 5 minutes and my legs felt just fine during the race and after. So I might have discovered with coach Jeff's help the cure to my leg cramping problem towards the end of long races. We'll see with the Clarksburg 20 mile in two weeks and CIM after that. Ate half a baggle with peanut butter and some water. Drank some cytomax while doing my warmup run.
ran 4 miles easy pace so my total for the day would be 17 miles. The extra miles were for my CIM training.
