Run
Comments: what a difference from last years heat and humidity! although 70-75 and some pretty good humidity still takes its toll after training in 30 degree weather! felt pretty good and stuck to the 10 min pace, although the first couple of miles were more crowded than I remember - so the first few miles got stuck in a 11 min pace.. but ran 915 to 930s and got the avg down to 956.. until about mile 20.. that's where jeff went on ahead and I slowed it down to 11-12 min miles for the last 5 miles or so. Still wound up with an 10:20 pace so was pretty happy. A marathon PR for me over 30 minutes. What would you do differently?: Having a 2 yr old and a new baby in Nov and virtually NO sleep for the 2 months leading up didn't help.. not to mention, I basically only ran 5 times in 5 weeks to get ready, after 6 weeks of no training at all.. I did a 12, 16, 20, 12, and 8 on the weekends with a little bit of swimming and that's it... I would like to think I could have been in the 4hr 15min time frame with proper training. :) Post race
Warm down: walk though the chute and waited to meet everyone in the family reunion area What limited your ability to perform faster: only running 5 times in 5 weeks before the race 12-16-20-12-8 Event comments: this is a super organized race with medical tents and water/powerade everywhere... tons of support and the most crowd support anywhere. names on the bibs are a nice touch and lots of people will cheer you on by name. and hey, it's disney world.
