Pre-race routine:

Got to the race, set up transition, complained about the cold morning.
Event warmup:

Light stretch and a short swim before the start
Swim
  • 08m 59s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not my best swim. I started hard to get ahead of the crowded line so I could slow down and have a decent swim to the finish. I might have gone too hard since I was winded the second half of the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Not start off so hard.
Transition 1
  • 03m 23s
Comments:

My T1 is always slow. I did not run the entire way from the beach to the bike since I wanted to catch my breath. I was a bit slow getting the wetsuit off.
What would you do differently?:

Relax
Bike
  • 31m 39s
  • 9.32 miles
  • 17.67 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried to go hard here. I eased up the last mile and a half to catch my breath and prepare for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Go hard the entire ride. It doesn't matter how fast or slow I go, I just run slow period.
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Still slow, but not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Run
  • 30m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

I am just freaking slow, period. I wanted to go hard but my HR and breathing are just over the top and it gets into my head, especially when I am getting passed by so many others. The run is very discouraging, especially after a strong swim and bike.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more miles and shedding some pounds couldn't hurt.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk it off and catch my breath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I suck at running. Also I was fighting a cold so that may have played a role.

Event comments:

Last race of the year. I was planning on making this an A-race but the cold shut me down some. I feel like I improved greatly from last year but I still have a lot of work to do before I am competitive.
