Comments: It was a running time trial start into the lake. People started every 5sec. Got into the water and got into a good grove. After about the first 100m I started passing people. Heading right for the buoy made navigation easier. Continued to pass people throughout the race. Made another good turn at the second buoy and then navigation became a problem. Went offline a couple times, but nothing bad. Passed a lot of people and don't think anyone passed me. Don't think this was really a 1/4 mile. Seemed a little shorter What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I know you are probably think, what the hell did he do in transition, sit down and make some coffee. It was a good 1/4mile run from the lake to transition. Took me 2:10 just to get to T1. I still think I can cut some time off here. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: To start out I don't think this was really 12.5 miles long. I forgot to reset my computer so I don't have an accurate measure. I think it was closer to 11.5 miles. I had a tailwind going out and was averaging 23-24mph. Got into the park and there were a lot of turns and speed bumps. Did well taking the turns and missing the speed bumps. The first speed bump I didn't see and launched right off it. After that I was able to squeeze in between or go around on the very outside. At one point in the park there was an area where you could either go straight or turn right. There were volunteers standing there, but they weren't paying attention. Me and another girl are coming up to this turn and we are not sure where to go and we didn't have anyone close enough in front see make the turn. Well at the last minute the guy yells left turn, which is actually a right turn for us and both me and the girl almost miss it. I hit my bracks and the back tire skeed out, so I let up got control and hit it again, same thing. So I finally decided all within a matter of less then 5sec that I wasn't saving this and it would be better to just go into the grass. Fortunately there was nothing in the grass and I was able to go in and come out pretty quick. Got back out onto the street and hit the headwind. Still was able to average about 20-21mph. I think overall I probably averaged between 21-22mph. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: I got out of my shoes but didn't have time to gear down because the corners came so fast. I was also a little affraid to do a running dismount with the foot. What would you do differently?: Running dismount Run
Comments: Run wasn't bad and I had no expectations being the first race after the broken foot. Even thought I had a faster 5k then everyone in my age group before I broke my foot. The only part of the run I didn't like was the part where we had to cross the bike lane into the community area. If there were bikes coming it could have been dangerous. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Training will get me better were I need to be. Post race
Warm down: Stretch and food What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training. Broken foot Event comments: Would do again. Last updated: 2007-10-04 12:00 AM
