![]() Swim
Comments: Being in the first women's wave I was hoping that I would be out of the water before the men came through, but after most of the 30-39 women passed me and I started to see the guys coming up I had a mild freak out during the last 200. I had psyched myself out to be swimming with guys - they're so much bigger and faster - that I just had to keep breast stroking for the last bit. What would you do differently?: Maybe a wetsuit, some folks had them, but it felt too warm for it. Maybe I could have been more buoyant. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I didn't tie the shoes tightly enough and took a little time to have to retie them, but everything else felt smooth. I felt like I used the entire time to get out of my funk from the swim. ![]() Bike
Comments: This was the purple tank's final swan song. I also hadn't been on a bike in a month (oops) since th last tri so my gearing was a little off and the brakes were very unhappy. Also the screw holing in my right cage popped off so I couldn't pull up on that side. That bike is going to the graveyard. Also the final hill into the marina was a little bumpy and having bad brakes didn't help too much with that. What would you do differently?: Have a better bike! And actually train :-P ![]() Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Guess the next one will be with bike shoes and transitioning into running shoes. Hopefully that won't be too hard. ![]() Run
Comments: I love the run. I kept my breath regular and took water to wash the salt off my face. What would you do differently?: I'm fairly happy with my run. I'd like to get the other two legs faster to match up with the run! The fact that I'm running 8:41s when I normally run 9:45-10 min/miles during marathon training makes me very happy. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walking around, some stretching and then a wine festival :-) What limited your ability to perform faster: nerves for the swim and slacking on my biking training Event comments: The post-race food was awesome, though a medal would have been fun too. It would have been nice to have a few more kayakers out in the water to keep us in line. Last updated: 2007-10-07 12:00 AM

Slept in my own bed, which was nice, oatmeal, coffee and then some peanut butter crackers. Set up everything under my rack area, my only goal for this race was to have faster transitions. Get air in my tires, have Roxanne check out my chain.
Checked out the swim start and finish to figure out where I was going. Definitely didn't stretch out my arms enough. I was feeling my shoulders during the bike.
