Swim
Comments: I'm not a good swimmer. I tried to start in the back like I usually do but this swim was to short. By the time I finally started to get to clear water we were heading to the finish. What would you do differently?: Force myself to start near the front, even if I have to risk getting swam over. Transition 1
Comments: I sprinted as soon as I got out of the water. I had to weave through some people as soon as I was on land but this is where my race starts. It was a tough run to the bike but it was a good place to make up for my swim. I had my shoes already on my bike. Just put on the helmet and ran with the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing, it went well. Bike
Comments: I liked the course and the hills. The bike is my strength and I didn't get passed on the whole course. I had my bell on my bike so I had to ding a few times since I was breathing to hard to say "on your left". I dropped my chain a few times which cost me a little time and ruined my momentum. What would you do differently?: Not much. I'm happy with the result. Transition 2
Comments: I got confused with all the volunteers yelling about where to get off the bike. I had to jump off early and just run with the bike since I thought the no passing line was the "get off the bike" line. I'd rather run than get a penalty though. What would you do differently?: I have to get used to running with out socks, I think. Run
Comments: I had trouble on the run. I had stomach cramps and could not run any faster even though I had energy in my legs and lungs. At the 1.5 turn around I was passed by a few people in my age group and I just could stay with them. What would you do differently?: I have to train at a higher pace and heart rate. I run enough, I guess just not at race pace. Post race
Warm down: Nothing, just a bottle of water and some drinkable yogurt. I had to get back to the hotel before check out and get a shower. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run and swim is where I can see some room for improvement. Event comments: This was a great race for my. Just last weekend I did the Georgia State Time Trial and got third so I'm ending the season on a high note. I was able to do a strong race and still have enough energy to thank the volunteers I saw. Woke up in a B&B and tried to slip out without waking the wife and kids. I had my son's feet in my back the whole night so I didn't sleep well. I was still groggy and slammed my shoulder into the door frame, cutting it. It stung a little getting into the water.
Had my usual cereal and yogurt with a cup of tea.
Did nothing but set up, talk to a friend and make use of the port-a-potties in an effort to drop some weight.
