![]() Swim
Comments: I do not spend much time at all training for the swim portion. I REALLY underestimated the swim leg...it was hard. I came out of the water exhausted. The last 200 yards was a side stroke :) This really hurt my bike and run times. What would you do differently?: Train consistently for the swim. I am going to purchase total immersion book and dvd as suggested by a friend... ![]() Transition 1
Comments: The climb from the beach the T1 was brutal, especially after my swim experience. I ran and walked, then ran and walked all the way back. Ouch! That was a shocker! What would you do differently?: 1. Run the entire length 2. Invest in some better bike shoes, and buy a number belt ![]() Bike
Comments: My average time was definitely down, because of my experience with the swim. I recovered about half way thru the bike, so at least I gained some ground on the return trip. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I feel that I did decent with this transition. I was able to slip on my shoes and go (already had number pinned to shirt) What would you do differently?: Nutrition and Train harder! ![]() Run
Comments: My average speed was definitely down on this race, there is no reason that I can not run a 8:30 mile, but I was toast... I had to walk for about 30 seconds at one point. PS...Thanks to female competitor who gave me a few motivating words on the last half mile stretch to home --- I quote, "We will finish this together!" ( 25 years old, Asian decent) Thank you! What would you do differently?: Nutrition and Train harder! ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition. Unexpected swim performance. Event comments: Hey...I finished my first triathlon. I could not be prouder! I can't wait for next season...I plan on doing an olympic Who knows? HIM the next season?! :) Volunteers were great. thank you! Last updated: 2007-10-09 12:00 AM

This was my 1st Triathlon!
We woke up at 430, so we could get the kids ready...and make it across
Atlanta 'Burbs to be at Lake Lanier by 6:00 AM. We arrived at 5:50 AM. The parking lot was about a mile walk to the transition area, and the transition was darker than I expected...keep in mind that I am trying to figure things out, and
manage two kids (Thank goodness for a supprotive wife!)
I did not eat anything before the race, because I tend to cramp very easy on the run. ( I think this might have been a limiting factor overall)
I had a cup of water before the event
I swam in my pearl izumi bike shorts, but I think I will buy tri shorts
I swam a little to adjust to water temp. (Water temp was not too bad! 74 degrees)
