Run
Comments: Tried to keep up w/ Julia since she was going to run it easy. Ha! I lasted 1 mile, then she decided to go for it. Then I tried to keep up w/ Katie, but my legs tightened up at mile 3, so I slowed a bit to try to shake them loose. Started feeling better so tried again to catch Katie, which I never did. At the turn around at mile 5, saw Julia again who tossed out a "Catch me!" so that was my mantra for a couple miles -- catch Julia catch julia... Didn't happen, but kept me going. There was no point at all during this race that was fun or pain free but I kept going and finished respectably. Ted pointed out that the women in my age group that finished ahead of me probably didn't race yesterday -- isn't he a sweetie! Lungs limited my pace most of the first half, legs limited my pace the second half. I felt like I was running on sticks the last couple miles -- no fluidity and no real feeling. Interesting.... What would you do differently?: Considering the circumstances, nothing. I pushed it, but not enough to hurt myself long-term (I hope). Post race
Warm down: Tried stretching and jogging to the car for my parka. Hung out w/ BTers and cheered for people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Yesterday's race. Still held a better pace than my 1/2 mary and 10 mile trail run in October, so maybe I'm improving. Event comments: Glad I raced. Hope I can walk tomorrow :) Last updated: 2007-10-16 12:00 AM
