Run
Comments: Glad I wore YakTrax as course was snowpacked. Trails were very uneven - better to run in the virgin snow most of the time. Was also glad I had baggies over my sox to keep my feet dry for the ride. Transition 1
Comments: Last time I checked my bike it was all alone. When I came into transition there were bikes packed around it and I ran right past it. What would you do differently?: Take a look at the rack right before the race starts or mark my spot w/ a towel. Bike
Comments: Had to climb a small hill right off the bat - that was kind of tough. Still getting used to the loose snow. Transition 2
Comments: Running w/ helmet so only stopped to rack bike. What would you do differently?: Ride faster into transition. Run
Comments: Didn't feel very strong, but kept chugging along. There was a lot of sideways action in the loose snow. Post race
Warm down: Didn't stretch - bad! Hung out and chatted w/ all the BTers. Had a Hammer Gel -- should have brought my own post-race food. Event comments: There was another bike leg after the run -- apparently I got passed by a lot of people in later waves during that ride. Spaced out a bit and forgot I was supposed to be racing :) Was more comfortable in the snow at this point in spite of some fishtailing in my highest gear. Two laps, 27:32. Lastly, rack bike and run to finish :36. Very fun, rather silly race! Ran w/ helmet on and rode in running shoes w/ YakTrax. I could have been more aggressive on the ride -- BUT I didn't fall down :) Last updated: 2007-10-16 12:00 AM

Coffee and Clif bars on the drive down. Arrived an hour early. Ted put pedals on my bike so I could ride in running shoes. Tried riding around the parking lot to get used to riding in snow -- snowed 4" the night before.
Riding a bit around the parking lot, chatting w/ BTers, running in place and stretching.
