Pre-race routine:

Shower, pack, eat Cliff bar on the way to the race. Teddy got the mtn bike put together this a.m. so I could take it just in case. Cliff cappuchino gel a little before race. Lots of water.
Event warmup:

Set up transition, potty, get #, run a couple minutes trying to induce asthma (not today!), rode a couple minutes to make sure everything was working properly. Stretch while waiting in line to start.

Comments:

Run felt good once I got to the top of the 1st hill -- it was little but it didn't feel little. Finished the last mile strong.
What would you do differently?:

I guess push myself harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

This wasn't good. Two ladies were sitting on the curb right in front of my space and didn't move. Of course I didn't ask them to -- silly me. Racked bike, took off helmet, headband and mitties. Realized I shouldn't have strapped my garmin over my jacket. Spent too much time w/ sweaty slippery fingers trying to undo and redo garmin so I could lose the coat. Changed shoes and grabbed water bottle.
What would you do differently?:

Strap the garmin to the bike? Still would have had to mess with it. If I'd had it on my wrist my jacket wouldn't have come off over it.... I know, buy a warm jersey to wear instead of jacket so wouldn't have to take it off.

Comments:

Fun ride.
What would you do differently?:

Unzip my jacket completely so it doesn't act like a parachute. Better yet, get that midweight jersey so no jacket. Get into aerobars -- not much practice yet so chickened out :)

Post race
Warm down:

The usual -- mostly chatted w/ BTers: Katie, Richard, Mark, Ben, Bert, and met Bridget and Scott. Hope I didn't miss anybody. Walked to the car for Endurox and electrolyte water. Checked results and got my goodie bag.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to do more tempo and interval work.

Event comments:

Fun off-season race series. And they gave out a great tech T for siging up for all 3 races. Definitely do it again next year.

Performance: Good
Pace and heart rate were pretty consistent. Zone 3 the whole time even tho I felt like I was pushing it.
Course: This was the 2nd leg. Concrete and mud trails. I like running in the mud :) Took the water bottle w/ me and glad I did.

Performance: Good
Pace was pretty consistent, but hr jumped w/ the hills. In zone 4 for a total of a mile and zone 5 for .6 mile.
Wind: None
Course: This is the same ride as in Tri the Creek and it was so much easier w/o a swim first :) Fairly flat and fast. Roads could stand to be repaved -- I hate the constant jolts from cracks. 99% of the ice was melted -- wasn't an issue at all.
