Got there. Got registered.
Event warmup:

About 10 minutes easy running with some pickups to get my heart rate up and warm up since it was chilly. Did a few quick striders right before the start.

Comments:

Really didn't think I was going to be able to beat 29 minutes, so was overall pretty pleased when I heard mile times being called as I passed. I started relatively easy pace, but after the first mile tried to make my pace "strong." This is when I ought to wear a HRM. Anyway, last mile, I focused on cadence, and that seemed to help a lot. I felt as if I was moving at a fairly quick pace, but well within my control.
What would you do differently?:

Focus on cadence sooner. Push a little harder. I probably could.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Haven't done a stand-alone road race since February, so really felt out of my element. I need to push harder, especially short ones like a 5k.
