Comments: OK were ready. Gun goes off and.... were not moving yet. Son of course takes off right into the back of the person in front of us and falls down. Pick him up and tell him to relax. OK here we go moving slowly. Cross the timing mat and wholy cow it's crowded. Wanted to use this as an LT test so I could really start training with an idea of what I was doing. Probaly shouldn't have started in the middle of the pack. Of course my son takes off weaving back forth between everybody. Looks like he'll be a good crit rider one day. Ok just relax and get going. slow down, find an opening, sprint through, repeat, repeat, repeat. Starting to open up enough where it's getting a little easier to get around people. Comming up on the one mile mark. Hey who is that kid running in the grass dodging garbage cans, tree's and roots, etc. Hum thats my kid tell him to just get with me and run on the road before he kills himself. Hit the one mile mark says 10:40. was hoping to go a little faster but don't really know how long after the gun went off we really started.OK relaxing a little bit and finding a constant pace. Passing lots of people and getting passed by plenty. Still lots of people but hey this is kinda fun. Hit mile two mark says 19:00 OK maybe I'm not doing so bad. Try to pick up the pace for the last mile. Can't really tell if I'm going faster or not but I'm breathing a little harder now. Surprised at how warm it is tonight so sweating pretty good by this point. Really want to finish good but don't know the couse and not sure how much I've got left anyway. Hey there's the finish. Push hard to make 28:00 on the clock. Hey that wasn't so bad and was alot of fun. drop my chip off and head towards the finish chute to cheer my son home. What would you do differently?: Start more towards the front a guess. But it was fun running with all the people. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Cheer for my son as he comes by. grab him (of course he was monkeying with his chip before the start and it came off some where on the course, that will cost me I'm sure) we head over get some water and head back to the finish to cheer for the wife and duaghter. they come running in smiling and all red in the face. 6 year old duaghter looks so proud of herself. We all head over and grab some pizza and head back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm slow and out of shape. Event comments: Fun race, I'm sure we'll do it agian next year. Arrived in plenty of time with the family. Easy parking close by. All change into our shirts head over and pick up our timing chips and jingle bells. Hit the porto-johns with my Son. Of course he had to go for a second time right before the start. So had to stand in line for about 15 min with him.
None really. My son and I work our way up to about the middle of the pack for the start. Just stood in the crowd trying to keep my son somewhat close by. Wife and duaghter find some friends and are going to start towards the back.
