Swim
Comments: So I had talked with a couple guys before the swim and it didn't look to me like I needed a wet suit. We all line up to start and I look around and I am the ONLY person NOT wearing a wetsuit. Freakin' pussies! The water was beautiful. I think my time could have been a little better with the wetsuit. What would you do differently?: I am always wearing a wetsuit from now on. Transition 1
Comments: I thought my T1 would be smoken without the wetsuit stripping. It turned out to not be so hot. I am not sure why. I did take some time getting the sand off of my feet and getting my tri top on. Bike
Comments: My goal was to break 23mph and it looks like I did it. I was passing everyone with ease. There were about 5 speedsters who blew pass me. Fun stuff. I saw one guy's crank flew off his bike. Ouch, that would suck. I had about 3 gels on the bike and about 10oz of water. I thought they were going to give out water bottles on the bike, so I didn't bring much water with me. Didn't need it though. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I am very happy with this ride. Transition 2
Comments: I was not particularly happy with this time either. I went sans socks for the run, so I thought I should get a better time. Again, I spent some time getting the sand off of my feet. I saw Dave1011 coming into T2, so I had some fun harassing him a little bit. He rand out with me too. We shook hands and we were off. What would you do differently?: More determination. Maybe I shouldn't be shaking hands with people during transition. Run
Comments: The legs felt awesome starting out. I saw the family at the playground near the beach. They spelled "Go Dad" on the tic-tac-toe board in the playground. At mile 3 I could feel a blister forming on my right foot. This caused my foot strike to change a little. I was picking people off, which was a nice change of pace from SOR. When we started heading down the highway, I was starting to feel my feet more and more. The heat started to build a bit. We fought the wind going west and then turned to go with the wind, but got the sun right in our face. I was sweating loads, so I knew I was hydrated enough. I have been known to fade huge in races, so I tried to fight that. My goal was to go sub 8 min miles and I accomplished that. I saw Schmize and he was looking very determined. It looked like he was flying. I saw coredump and I said hey and he said erereerrreIIIrerer or something like that. I also saw jniekrasz and she was looking good. What would you do differently?: Not much I could have done with my PF injury and all. Post race
Warm down: Get some shade, water, Gatorade and food for the kids. Chatted with Schmize and Holly, dave1011, and others. Checked my feet. Huge blodd blister on the right foot and the back side of my heel bleeding on my left. The results of no socks. Meh. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much. Event comments: The post race nutrition was kind of limited. The hardware sucked. Though overall it was a good race. I can't help but to compare this race to my only other OLY I have done which is Chicago and PP doesn't hold up very well. Last updated: 2007-10-26 12:00 AM

Got up at 3:45 and let the air out of the air mattress. We had been camping since Thurs. and were sleeping in a tent. Ate half a PBJ and some chocolate. Drank some Perpetuem and a Diet Pepsi. Got the kids up and we were off.
Sat in transition and tried to decide if to wear a wetsuit or not. Could not make up my mind. I saw some other BT's, Whizz, jniekrasz, startingtotri, dave1011, jowisc, schmize, force, and some others. Went over the race start with my socks still on. I had to protect my pedicure.
