Swim
Comments: Ok swim. My arms were a little tired. I don't normally swim in my tri shorts. Or if I do, they're under my wetsuit. So I guess I didn't pull them tight enough. On my second push off the wall, my shorts almost came right off! I had to slow down and pull them up. I took the rest of the swim a little slower than I could have since I didn't want to have to finish the swim naked. ha! Transition 1
Comments: I wasn't mentally prepared enough for the first triathlon of the year. I hit T1 and hadn't yet really thought about what I was needed to do. Was definitely slower here than I should've been. Dropped a few things while rushing to put them on. Joanne was there telling me my transitions need some work (LOL!) What would you do differently?: Practice things a few times beforehand and come to the race mentally ready to go! Bike
Comments: I pushed pretty hard, but didn't feel like it was up to my potential. I think I actually averaged around 20.5, which is slow for me in a short race. But still an ok performance that I'm happy with. Transition times lumped in with the bike split. What would you do differently?: Train the bike more consistently beforehand. Transition 2
Comments: Better than T1. The run up the hill in cleats sucked! What would you do differently?: Put my Yankz on the new shoes. Run
Comments: Best run ever! This was a HUGE improvement for me. I felt great off the bike and went out at a 7:00 pace, which seemed way too fast so I backed off a little. But when I hit the road, I saw someone about 100 feet in front of me and it was frickin on. For the first time in a tri, I really felt like I could pick some people off on the run. I slowly caught up to this guy and passed him on the first big uphill. It felt awesome. Then it was a few more. And I went from last years 93rd overall on the run to 38th this year. A big step forward. I didn't drink anything on the course. Just threw some water on myself at the Mile 2 station to cool down. What would you do differently?: Push harder down the homestretch! Post race
Warm down: Bagels, bananas and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Sketchy training over the last month and not being mentally prepared to race. Event comments: Another great year for the Tri by the Sea! They did a good job altering the course with the unfortunate construction going on. Last updated: 2007-11-04 12:00 AM

Coffee, bagel and a sleepy drive to Marblehead.
Nervously walking up and down the bigass hill outside the JCC waiting for friends to arrive and the race to start.
