Run
Comments: The race was a great race. I went into this race as a training run for Sunmart. I had no expectations. The weather was PERFECT for running. I planned to just run and enjoy it. I started off the race wearing a clear plastic trash bag (love those things) for the first 2 miles. I missed the water table at mile 2 because I thought there would be a couple of them. There was one table for water and one for Ultima (I found out at mile 2 that I do not like Ultima). Since this was actually a training run, I ran with a handheld filled with yummy orange Gatorade. I'm trying to get used to carrying one of those for 50 miles. When I got to the 13.1 mile marker, my time was 2:03. It was much faster than I expected, but I was feeling pretty good, so I just kept going. I walked when I needed too and ran when I could. The second half of the course was much harder than the first. More hills and less crowd support. The volunteers for this race were absolutely AWESOME. Very, very, very supportive!!! What would you do differently?: Probably nothing. Post race
Warm down: Found my sweetie pie, walked to his car and went to Ruby Tuesdays!!! :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Big a$$ hills. :) I was also going into this as a training run. If I had gone into this as a true race, I could have started with that mental attitude and may have run it faster. Event comments: It was a great race with wonderful volunteers. Woke up at 4:30, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and drove to Raleigh. I sat in the warm car until it was 15 minutes before the start of the race.
Walked to the start and jumped in line. I realized I had not stretched, so I reached down and touched my toes. I thought that was plenty. :)
