Pre-race routine:

Up early, had a bowl of Kashi. That always gets things going. Tried to figure out what to wear. It was cold and wet. Settled on wind pants, long sleeve shirt and wind breaker. After much thought at site I ended up with shorts and long sleeve shirt with a BT t-shirt over that. Checked in and walked around. Met a few people from Black diamond, Kam, Rob and Jackie. Got to meet a few other people. Good friendly crowd.
Event warmup:

Took a run with Kam for a 1/4 mile or so. Stretched and got chip. Lines up in the road.

Comments:

I fall down twice. Yep. Twice. I vowed to run most or all of it. I did well. Ran my own pace. The uphills felt good. The downhills were pretty steep making it difficult with ascend with speed. 3km in I turned my ankle in and pulled a Chuck Norris move and rolled over my shoulder and sat for a second. Then took off. I feared I would do this. Ankle not bad and o pain in 100 yds or so. Then soon after 6km rest stop the terrain eased up so I opened it up some. It felt good I was moving well for me. Then the unseen rock. Turned the ankle this time good. Had to sit a minute or so to let in settle. Was able to get going again.
Over all I had a good time running. Very challenging and I had fun trading places with other runners as the hiller caught me and I pick them back up on the flats. There is one section that really challenges you. It's a steep grade cover in gravel. It really felt like it would be easier to crawl. You had to really watch the root and rocks.
What would you do differently?:

Run more trail stuff.

Post race
Warm down:

Stood in pile a wet leaves till Kam found me some ice. Thank Kam. And thanks Jackie for piling more wet could leaves on. Beer they had beer. Not giving out bottles, but samples. I had a few. Sat with my foot up some with ice. Didn't feel like eating much so had some coffee and BEER. Headed home to work on bathroom

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Staying upright at the least. Thanks to the runners who stopped to ask if I was OK.

Event comments:

I enjoyed this race a lot. Nice to have a change of venue then asphalt. Good to Jackie, Rob and Kam.
