Age Group Rank = 24/58
Pre-race routine:

Checked in, used the restroom, set up transition, relaxed
Event warmup:

Stretched, jumped in the water for a little swim
Swim
  • 18m 50s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 09s / 100 yards
Comments:

Improved from last year by almost 3 minutes, still suck at swimming
What would you do differently?:

Need to find a way to work on the swim
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Good transition
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 13m 18s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.34 mile/hr
Comments:

Was a challenging ride and there were some rough road spots that were a bit jarring, felt good on ride though, legs were sore when done
What would you do differently?:

Need to grind less and spin more to save legs, work on gear shifting to facilitate this
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

Didn't pull feet out of shoes due to broken toe, didn't want to risk jamming it and affecting the run leg
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, slow T2 due to taking care with taped toe
Run
  • 51m 52s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Took it easy on downhills due to limiting pounding on my toe, developed a couple blister starters due to new insoles that I bought to pad my foot
What would you do differently?:

Don't use new insoles, otherwise nothing due to toe issue
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched, drank, ate banana, orange quarter, 1/2 cinnamon raison bagle

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sore toe (due to break) and blisters on foot and my inability to conquer the swim

Event comments:

I am please with the race considering a week ago I wasn't sure that I was going to compete because of the broken toe. I imporved by about 5 minutes overall which is pretty decent. T1 was improved from last year due to the use of the Tri suit although still slow because of gingerly running as a result of the toe.
