Swim
Comments: Swim was horrible. Did not practice swimming for months and it showed. I was out of breath and tired by the time I got to the first buoy. After that I decided to compose myself and just get through this thing no matter how many different strokes I had to use. Also was the first time I swam in a wet suit which did not limit me at all but the fact that I am a terrible swimmer did! What would you do differently?: More swim practice, more swim practice, and more swim practice. Transition 1
Comments: No problems with this transition. The wet suit came off very easily which I did not expect. Shirt went on without a problem and bike mount went well (left shoes on bike). What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Bike was probably the highlight of my race. Could have turned out really well if I did not have problems with the last couple of hills. Almost wrecked on one of the turns onto another road but was able to correct myself. Passed some really expensive and much newer bikes which felt good. What would you do differently?: Need more hill work. Transition 2
Comments: Rode on top of shoes and dismounted bike without a problem. Had a little trouble getting number belt buckled but overall transition was good. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Run was very difficult because of the heat and turned in one of my slower 5K's in a while. My pace also seemed to slow a bit running through the grass. What would you do differently?: Not much I could have done differently. I think the heat was the most contributing factor in the run today. I did take 2 waters at every aid station but it did not seem to help. Post race
Warm down: Met the family at the finish line. Drank a lot of water and ate a PB&J. What limited your ability to perform faster: The 5 extra pounds I was carrying and the lack of training over the last couple of weeks. Event comments: Was organized but race was delayed because of the people picking up packets before the race. There was still a long line when the race was supposed to start. Again no post race activities for HFP and no vendors. Last updated: 2007-11-13 12:00 AM

Stayed in a cabin at the Deer Creek Resort so we were close the race. Woke up at 5:15 to get ready to go. Morning breakfast consisted of a banana. Scotty already had the bikes loaded up in the truck so I just had to throw a couple of things together.
Nothing really special about the routine, some light stretching before leaving for the race and at the race.
