Swim
Comments: Like mentioned before, I shouldn't have done an extra warmup 5 minutes before the race, or I shouldn't have at least gone out so far. I had to rush back in, getting my heart rate up a little high, kinda threw me off, I outpaced myself for the beginning of the swim. The water was warm... so warm I wished I wouldn't have worn my wetsuit, but I was still happy I had used it. Considering the panick attack from last tri, I didn't want to take a chance. It felt like I was swimming in warm bath water though - blech! What would you do differently?: Not wear the wetsuit, warmup with and without wetsuit to find out if I truly need it or not since I'm getting used to OWS. Transition 1
Comments: Well... better than last tri at least... a whole 1 minute faster - and I had a wetsuit to wrestle with! I had trouble putting on my socks also. What would you do differently?: I'm thinkin' next season, go with a pair of tri specific shoes, and go sockless. Those socks take a lot of time to put on with wet feet, even after drying them quickly. Bike
Comments: The wind wasn't too bad starting out, but it picked up. The route wasn't all rough road, but a lot of it was pretty uncomfortable. Either way, it was a great ride! Had a few problems with my gears though, not sure what happend, brought the bike home, and it did fine when I took it out to check it out. What would you do differently?: I need to have the gears working perfectly for my HIM. Transition 2
Comments: Well... considering it's yet another 1 minute faster than my last tri, I'm pretty happy with it!!! I'm in a stupor as to why I used my front brake again while dismounting, allowing my bikes rear end to come up off the ground. Then, while running, accidently pressing my front brake again, not as bad, but causing a little rear end liftage again... wow, I've gotta practice my dismount more. What would you do differently?: Practice dismount, not use the front brake and lift the rear end of the bike up. Run
Comments: The run didn't go too well. Since transition was at the bottom of a hill, I ran up it too fast to start out. What would you do differently?: If hills in the beginning, don't go all out up the hill, take it easy and jog/walk, save my energy for later. I wouldn't drink as much. I think I drank all that water because there were so many aid stations! I wish there would have been fewer! Although the run back to the finish after the turn around line was nice to have the aid stations to throw water on my overheating body. Post race
Warm down: Walked and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, humidy that I haven't trained much in. But other than that, I outpaced myself during the swim at the beginning, and the same with the run portion. Event comments: I feel honored to race in memory of somebody that had such a community impact. It was extremely well put together and I was very happy to have raced (besides the nasty lake Decatur water!) The volunteers were awesome and did a great job! I'm also extremely proud of my family and friends that came to watch so early Sunday morning! Thanks to mom & dad, Alicia and her mom, and grandma & grandpa for coming. I felt great having so much support! And no ambulance this time for Alicia to have to watch! Last updated: 2007-11-16 12:00 AM

Ate 2 servings of oatmeal, used milk. Had a glass of OJ, and a banana.
I did the smart thing this time around, swam for about 400 yards before the race started! I did mistakenly swim out 5 minutes before the race, only to rush back and get my heart rate up to high. I ended up going to fast off the line and had to slow myself down to relax.
