Pre-race routine:

Woke up really early. I was a little worked from the previous nights The King of the Queen Bed Arm Wrestling Championships With Kilo Dave. Had some coffee, a bowl of cereal and then headed down to the bus loading area. Drank a Gatorade and a Red Bull (1 pre-race Red Bull has been a routine this year) and shivered in the porta-potty line.
Event warmup:

I Ran about 100 meters down the course with Dave, then took one last pee break behind a rock, ran back to the starting line and got ready to run. Decided that because it was overcast and cold that I wouldn't need to carry any Gatorade during the race and chucked my bottle.

MILE SPLITS:
MILE ONE: 5:34 AVG HR: 148 - Went out hard but was comfortable
MILE TWO: 5:59 AVG HR: 158 - Settling in here... fast guys take off, I hold back.
MILE THREE: 6:03 AVG HR: 162 - I'm running at the pace and effort that I will need to maintain.
MILE FOUR: 6:04 AVG HR: 163 - Holding steady...
MILE FIVE: 6:10 AVG HR: 163 - Slowed a bit - some uphill
MILE SIX: 6:01 (35:54) AVG HR: 162 - Rolled with the downhill
MILE SEVEN: 6:02 AVG HR: 162 - Trying to maintain the pace
MILE EIGHT: 6:14 AVG HR: 162 - Slowed a bit on the uphill
MILE NINE: 6:10 AVG HR: 162 - Getting tired but maintaining
MILE TEN: 6:13 (1:00:34) AVG HR: 162 - Biggest uphill... then down
MILE ELEVEN: 6:24 AVG HR: 162 - This is where I fell apart last year. I have 2.1 miles to get it together or forget breaking 1:20! I'm tired.
MILE 12: 6:17 AVG HR 163 - I was happy that my pace increased a bit on this split, but I realize that breaking 1:20 is going to come down to how fast I can run mile 13.
MILE 13: 6:14 AVG HR: 165 - I ran as hard as I could on mile 13. I hit my max HR of 170 on this mile. I could see the finish line and I knew it was going to be close...
LAST .1: :40 Crossed the finish line and felt great... I heard MEG Yell for Dime as I approached the finish.

What would you do differently?:

Not much. I put it on the line today. I went out as fast as I could realizing that I could easily blow up and fail to reach my goal...

I ran the first 10K in 36:30 or so and that would be faster than my personal best at that distance.
Also, I ran the first 10 miles in 1:00:34 seconds which is nearly a minute faster than my personal best at that distance.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out... waited for the rest of the crew... KILODAVE came in with a PB right after me... Then Katie (OUTDOORSGIRL1978) flew in shaving 22 minutes off of her PB, Then Brett came followed by Greg. Chow and beer time!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

NADA - the weather was perfect today to run hard!

Event comments:

I love this race... I love MOAB... I have run 3 half mary's in MOAB and each one has been a PB. I had my best half hear last year, came back in October and bettered that time and then today may have been my best race at any distance ever! I'm stoked.
