Run
Comments: Here in drought plagued GA, rain is a hot commodity so it's hard to complain but...it did start to pour immediately after the gun. It rained the entire time with three or four downpours. I really enjoyed this race for a couple of reasons. 1st: I ran neg. splits based on HR and with just a few walk breaks executed my plan pretty much dead-on. 2nd: I ran with a couple of IM friends which I normally don't do during an event and had a lot of fun with them. What would you do differently?: Never, ever leave my gear bag in someone's car again, unless it's my own. I froze post-race. Post race
Warm down: Borrowed a friend of a friend's sweathirt. What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably a bit undertrained from IM Wisconsin and also put on about 10 lbs. Both areas requiring improvement. Event comments: This race is great because it's on Thanksgiving and over the years of training I've made some really good pals to congregate with throughout the event. I missed this race last year and won't do that again, barring injuries, etc. My only real negative here is that it seems like a lot of road races like to serve you pre-race nutrition post-race. I just don't get that. Last updated: 2007-11-19 12:00 AM

Got up early and had a PBJ. Packed my gear laid out from night before and forgot my pre-race banana, nice. Drove to a friends house and his wife gave us a lift up to the race start. There, we met up with all of our race pals and stood around in the dark waiting for it to rain. A bit of stretching and a shared pack of Cliff Shot Blocks to go. Oh yeah, and a friend gave me a banana!
Some stretching and laughing.
