Run
Comments: Went in with the mindset of taking it at a very comfortable pace because my stated goal was 49:00 (1/2 MP). We got snow last night and were told the trail was icy (not really too bad). We had some good headwinds to contend with the first 3m, but again not too bad. Never felt pushed which means I could have gone faster. What would you do differently?: Probably push it the last half. I should have worked to keep my split pace. My last half was nearly 1 minute slower than the front half for no real reason. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and waited for Diane. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing, except my own will to push it. I knew beating my '07 stated goal and revised '07 goal were pretty much in the bag so anything better seemed fine to me. In retrospect, should have pushed to establish training paces for Boston. I can tell Lowell feels this way too. I guess that is what a coach is paid to do - push you. Event comments: This race grows every year and it is always more fun than the last as a result. Madison has a great running community and everyone is out to take advantage of the November race. Last updated: 2007-11-22 12:00 AM

Not much. This is a very low key event for me, usually a B race.
Up at 5am, oatmeal for breakfast at 6:30, out the door at 7:30am.
Very short warm-up in my heavy parka just to loosen the legs. It was really cold so I did not give up that coat until the very end.
