Pre-race routine:

The usual. Stay up all night with my brother. Watched TRANSFORMERS around 4:00 a.m. :-) Headed out about 7:15 to get a good parking spot.
Event warmup:

Got timing chip and hung out in my car in the parking garage until race time.

Comments:

First time running this distance in "race" conditions. Heard horror stories of the start being congested. Crossed Start Line about 4 mins after the lead pack. (Figured I'd give them a head start). A bit slow first 2 miles but eventually found a groove. I slowed (i.e. walked) at the 4 mile aide station to take in some water. At mile 6 aide station, I took some more water, but did my best to "run/drink" (successfully consuming about 1/2 of the 1/2 cup of water).
My "goal" was to avg. 9:45/min mile and I believe without the congested start, I would have made that. It was fun to see so many people out there. HR stayed in check most of the day. Climbed a bit on the "hills" around mile 7, but that was expected. Nothing too severe to where I was over doing it.
What would you do differently?:

Sleep the night before?
Apply more Body Glide in the appropriate places! Although I didn't have serious issues, a longer run with warmer weather would have been a bit uncomfortable to my inner thighs!
Find some of the BT'ers to chat with.
Post race
Warm down:

Smoothie (a bit chalky, if you ask me), a banana and some water.
Took a couple finisher photo's with my bro.


What limited your ability to perform faster:

Better music selection in my IPOD? :-)

Overall, it was a nice race for me.
