Swim
Comments: first tri, can't complain. just learned to swim this summer so, 25 yds was a big struggle then and now 400 was a challenge rolled over onto my back twice to regain composure and take deep breaths but stayed out of other swimmers' ways...i hope What would you do differently?: just relax and breathe...not bad for first tri...try to learn to bilateral breathe at some point...might help keep from drifting right all the time Transition 1
Comments: okay, using mtb bike shoes so lacing them up took awhile, not to mention I was a little dazed from the swim. I didn't think I took THAT long, though, omg What would you do differently?: took too much time drying off, and next time consider trisuit. hard to pull cycling top over wet sportbra, etc... Bike
Comments: good race for me...passed lots of peeps, only passed by 2 riders, one I caught up to on the run, the other must have smoked me on the bike and run...probably in the wave behind me! What would you do differently?: nothing, but get a new bike, i was flying on this course with my old downshifter 10 spd steel bike, but could feel all of the vibrations in my arms afterwards, and made for some wobbly legs at T2 Transition 2
Comments: faster this time in T2, just had to switch helmet with running cap and switch shoes. What would you do differently?: should have been faster...maybe when I get clipless pedals and real road shoes, it'll be faster Run
Comments: pretty nice run, i felt a little wobbly off the bike but managed to hit my stride after the first killer hill... What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: just drank water and stretched a bit. they ran out of most food except for some luna bars i grabbed. What limited your ability to perform faster: for my first tri, i felt great and had a ton of fun. I would like to purchase a new bike later this fall, because hillier rides around here are brutal with just ten speeds. Keep working on the swimming, consider a swim coach. Event comments: Will try to do again next year or at least volunteer. Great tri for first timers and women wanting a more relaxed environment for racing. Last updated: 2007-11-30 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, showered, ate cereal with yogurt and had a cup of coffee. Walked the dog. Loaded the car. Got to Pleasanton and it was COLD. Set up transition area...bathroom run...got body marked and picked up timing chip. Listened to my music all the while to relax for my first tri.
Swam about 50 yards or so...water was warmer than standing out on the shore.
