Swim
Comments: Got a good start to 1st buoy, very choppy swim, tide was meant to be an advantage, but chop took this away. Still, had a good swim and felt good coming out of water, should have gone harder, but this was a test race for this distance. What would you do differently?: Swim harder 2nd 500m. Transition 1
Comments: Had a good transition, sunnys on, helmet on race belt with 2 x gels on and away. jumped onto bike, got shoes up right way and got up to speed before getting feet in. What would you do differently?: Need to get tri specific cycle shoes, to many velcros on my roadies. Bike
Comments: Went out at a good pace and tried not to go too hard on 1st lap, averaged 35km/h, I wanted to build an average of 36km/h. Had a gel at end of 1st lap. Went out harder on 2nd and 3rd laps, got average to 37km/h. Had another gel at end of last lap, drank full botlle of gatorade and 1/3 of water on ride. Got off bike ready to run. What would you do differently?: Go a bit harder next time. Transition 2
Comments: Had a good T2, racked bike, helmet off, shoes on, hat on and away we go. Seen wife and girls on my way out, lots of support, luv it!! What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Felt good coming out of T2, 1st lap just tried to settle into running rythm, didnt go too hard, didnt want to hit the wall like at Noosa. Have done a lot of training with gels and fluid to make sure it doesnt happen again. Drank a cup at each drink station (3 per lap). 2nd lap picked up the pace, realised I wasnt gonna blow and picked it up more and more to the end. Forgot my stopwatch, so I didnt know what my pace was. Overall happy with the run and how I still felt good at the end of the race What would you do differently?: Go harder next time. Post race
Warm down: None really, just a chat and some food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Unsure about ability to cover distance at race pace. Event comments: Luv this race 'cause its close to home and its where it all started for s/s and myself. Moving to the long course is exciting and finishing strong has giving me the confidence to go harder next time. Concentrating on fuel and fluid, and having some sort of plan for the race is the key to enjoying racing. I'm learning to relax more and more as the races go by, cant wait til race 3 at Bribie, same distance, hopefully a PB. Happy transitioning!!!! Last updated: 2007-12-04 12:00 AM

Woke up 4.50am, had 2 slices of toast and a banana for breakfast, and half a bottle of gatorade up til race time at 0755. I live 2km from race start, so rode down about 0540, registered, and headed into transition and set up, double checked everything. aught up with Silver Streak and wished him luck. Headed down to short course start and watched s/streak swim and head into and out of transition, he was in 3rd/4th pos.(he ended up getting 2nd, good effort s/s).By this time my wife and 2 girls were with me and they walked up to long course start with me.
Walking to start!!!
