Event warmup:

found other teammates........845 went out for a run and the first thing i thought was......HOLY FARKIN CRAPOLA!! IF FREAKIN COLD!!! once i got the bellyaching out of the way and realized it was cold for everyone, i felt better.........got back into the gym and stretched with raytown and jackie (<---future donkette???? work on it raytown!!), then took the long slow walk to the starting line.......

Comments:

despite a good warm up (prolly a bit too soon tho), my left quad felt really tight in the beginning..........loosened up after about a half mile tho.......

really pushed the hills and passed some people so that was a good thing.

initially when i signed up for the run, i was thinking i could do it in 19 mins........re-evaluated about a week and a half ago and decided i should be able to go sub 1830. after looking at last years results i started thinking maybe i should just go after it and see what i can do. very happy with the run, havent ran under 18 in a very long time!
What would you do differently?:

do my warm up a little bit later..........also, once done with warmup, stay out in the conditions, not go back inside heated, comfy gym!
Post race
Warm down:

caught my breath...........then proceeded to back track on the course to find raytown and jackie to cheer them on.........raytown looked very strong at the finish and looked like he had a great race which he confirmed afterwards.......found jackie and then ran the last quarter mile or so with her, then went in and stretched

Event comments:

there were lots of runners and walkers at this run.....they wanted all the walkers to be in the back behind the runners, but we all know how well people listen, that (and to be fair to the walkers) some runners can be jags to and not give people space to get by...........so walkers and even some runners (i saw what looked to be an 8 yr old) ended up in front of me even tho i was up towards the front. also, i did not hear the starting gun so i kinda got caught by surprise when everyone started going....basically the first quarter mile was trying to get around people so there was know way i couldve gone out in the lead pack, which is what i wanted to do.....not sure how long i couldve ran with the lead pack, but i do know i probably honestly couldve taken another 20 seconds or thereabouts of off my time.........good thing tho is that i did NOT run over any chimpmunks on the course and i was able to actually have a cookie afterwards!!

enough of this report now i have this and that to get done so i must go now.........hope you enjoyed it!!!

Course: kind of a "out and back" type of thing..........roads were cleared very well, bike path was covered, but if you ran along the outsides of the path, there was good footing........
