Run
Comments: I started running with friends and my boyfriend, but eventually lost them in the crowd. I had expected to run a 10:30 mile or so, but felt great and picked up the pace. I love running with my Garmin. It really helped to push me to run faster by watching the time and my pace. Around mile 2 I heard some runners behind me talking about how they couldn't believe all the hype about the "hills" and that they were glad the worst part of the race was over. I didn't have the heart to tell them that the course is downhill the first 3 miles and that the worst was yet to come. I wonder how they felt at the end. At mile 3 I really started to pick up pace. I attacked all the hills rather than slowing down at them. The course seemed so much more crowded this year and it made it difficult to pass everyone. This was my 6th Peachtree Road Race and previously the finish line has been on 10th Street, going downhill. Due to the drought they moved the finish line from Piedmont Park to North Ave. and Piedmont Rd, all uphill! It was challenging but I still managed to come in at an hour. What would you do differently?: Submit a race time and get a number in a lower time group. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed my T-Shirt and met Hanrsb at Publix. She bought donuts! Chomped down my donut and waited for our other friends. We walked home from the finish line (about 2 miles). What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: I love this race. This marked my 6th year racing and I finally ran the race in an hour (probably under an hour if my Garmin is right!). It's tough to be serious about the run because there are so many people and it's typically really hot. Last updated: 2007-12-05 12:00 AM

Had a migraine all day before the race. Ignored it until bed and ate a yummy spaghetti dinner with other runners the night before the race. Drank water and Gatorade for hydration.
