Run
Comments: I had an awesome race. Was feeling great the last few days leading up to the race, and it really helped me stay positive race day. Started out right where I wanted to be right around 3:10 pace if not a little faster. I was shocked to hear that the 3:10 pace group was behind me 3 miles into the race, but wasn't to worried about it. I was even more surprised that at mile 10 the 3:10 pace group passed me like I was standing still and put some serious distance on me. I felt bad for the guys trying to qualify for Boston, as they quickly started coming back like fish caught on a fishing line. I never really felt bad during the race. My legs felt strong the whole way. I was definitely tired at the finish but never felt bad. The massive long runs on the Western States Trails really paid off. The hills of CIM felt like speed bumps compared to what I had been training on. Over all I had a great day and pulled off a minute and eight second PR. What would you do differently?: The only thing I wouldn't do is throw my long sleeve off so early. I should of ran with it off for a little while longer just to make sure I was warm enough before chucking it to the road side. Post race
Warm down: Ate a lot of food and drank as much fluids as I could get my hands on. Walked from the finish to my truck a little less than a mile away cheering all the other finishers along the way, probably my favorite part of the day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Absolutely nothing! Event comments: Great race for me. Perfect weather temperature a little windy at times, but after running the Napa marathon in 2006, 20mph winds and rain the whole time, CIM was a walk in the park. Last updated: 2007-12-05 12:00 AM

Got up about 4:00 ate a bowl of cereal, packed the last of my stuff, mainly warm clothes for after the race and headed to Harv's Car wash just past the 25 mile marker. Met up with my ride to the bus. Got on the bus and rode with my friends to the race start. It was nice sitting on the bus instead of waiting out in what I thought was the cold.
Jumped in line for the bathroom 20 minutes before the race start. Got through the bathroom line with 5 minutes to spare. Was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't as cold or windy as expected. Ditched my sweatshirt right before the race start, and made a smart decision to put my longsleeve over my singlet instead of underneath.
