Swim
Comments: the swim was a bit chaotic, the pool was really warm. I probably added 2 minutes with an inept T2, forgot to exchange sunglasses for goggles, had to go back, basically doubled the transition time. I had to make one rookie error and this was it. What would you do differently?: Either ride the bike with the goggles around my neck or forgo them completely. Overall speed up T2. This is a reverse sprint with the swim last,so basically you strip everything off but your tri shorts and run for the pool. Transition 1
Comments: I can't clip the shoes on and jump on yet, but I got a pretty good start changing from running to bike shoes and getting going. Should have run with biking gloves on. What would you do differently?: Run with biking gloves on to save time. Bike
Comments: I rode faster than I actually thought possible. Totally kicked ass on my training times. What would you do differently?: Run with the bike gloves on. As far as the actual biking, I did so much better than I expected to I wouldn't change anything. Transition 2
Comments: I forgot to replace sunglasses with goggles, had to to go back, cost a lot of time. What would you do differently?: Either ride with the goggles around my neck or forgo them. Run
Comments: Because this was the first segment (reverse triathlon) it was my first taste of actual competition. I was going much faster than I realized, which explains why I was wondering why it hurt so much. I was thinking "god, I should be in better shape," etc., and the truth is I cut 2 minutes off my best 5k time. I was simply caught up in the race and burned one out. Couldn't be happier about that. What would you do differently?: Not a thing Post race
Warm down: walked around, showered off the chlorine (swim was last) and stretched again. Smiled a lot. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was training with the idea that my first tri would be in March. So I moved up my first by 3 months of training time. Any limits were simply that I wanted to lose more weight and be in better shape by the time I raced, but it worked out okay. Event comments: This is a fun, well-organized race. Many people told me that this was a great first time triathlon, and all that was true. I was hoping to finish under 1:30 and I was under that by 15 minutes. If I hadn't douched T2 I might have been much closer to 1:10 Last updated: 2007-12-09 12:00 AM

Being my first triathlon, I don't really have a routine yet. I racked my bike, laid out my transition area, and registered.
stretching, warm-up jog to review running cadence, reminding myself to run my own race
