Swim
Comments: Ok so I have been swimming once in the past 6 months (no pools where I live) so this was just a get to the end kind of thing for me as far as swimming goes. Gogles leaked (bummer). Swim after run and bike was eh not so much fun, glad it was short. Intersting with all the waves, splashing and folks smashing into each other. Pool entry was free for all. What would you do differently?: I will need to build a pool to practice in probably, take lessons somewhere over the summer etc. Transition 1
Comments: Was a run, bike, swim tri. After the run my fingers were not supper agile on the helmet clasp and such, could have been faster transition. It was cute that someone took my chain off the sprocket so that when I started peddling nothing happened. Despite that I had my best time on the bike so far compared to practice by alot. What would you do differently?: I will always check the chain before leaving transition. Bike
Comments: I had to use a rental bike because I had crashed mine on a steep hill 3 days prior and hit some sand on a sharp corner. What would you do differently?: I should have downshifted more before the U-Turn at the half way point. I could have anticapated manuvering around much slower bikers that were in front a little better. I will have to figure out how to do "non draft" race as far as distance and passing is concerned. I will always check my chain before I get on the bike. Overally though, really happy with how well things went. For a first go. Transition 2
Comments: No tranistion started with run. Run
Comments: The run was good, I think I ran it about as fast as I should have. As it was I ran the 5k in 5 minutes less than my best in practice. It took maybe a mile and a half to get around the runners who were slower than I was because of the number of people all bunched up. I usually practice at around a 9 min mile so 7 ish min mile pace is smoking for me. (adrenalin ins your friend). What would you do differently?: Nothing really, maybe position myself closer to the front of the mass of folks. Just train more so I can go faster. Post race
Warm down: I just took a brief shower, changed, got some water and some food, lite stretching, packed up my stuff. Oh and walked around for about 30 min. What limited your ability to perform faster: Aside from the bike chain thing, and having crashed the bike I was used to 3 days prior, just needing to train more to obtain better times. I don't think I could have pushed much harder and finished about 15 min faster than I expected. I didn't have to slow my pace down because of starting out too fast, but was good and tired by the end of each portion for thoe muscle groups. For longer events I will need to fit in drinking some water and eating something on the bike or in transition. Or if the weather were warmer. Event comments: The actual race and everything was great. Only thing really to improve on for them would be to have some decent food at the end and maybe go over instructions better for new folks. Last updated: 2007-12-10 12:00 AM

Just set up transition area and got into position. Everything was fine, a little chilly waiting for things to get started. Didn't bother eating anything (I am not a morning person). I had a little water before I started the run.
A little stretching, nothing big.
